Well, its been a while since I updated my life and races.

First off, three weeks ago I did the mid-summer tri in Troutdale, Oregon. I was happy with my swim and bike, but the run sucked. I decided for the swim that I would try and get up front from the start. It truned out ot be a good idea as I settled into a good rhythm, but I had drifted from the main pack and lost some time by having to swim back to the pack.

The bike was by far the best bike leg I've ever had. The course was flat and I was able to fall into a great pace and hold it. I was averaging 20-23 MPH, and I rode the course in 1:07.

The run, however, was a different story. I've been having some recurring problems with planter fasciitics , and about mile three I could really start to feel the tightness coming back, and it reallly affected my run as I ran a 54 minute 10k.

I still have yet to put together a good all around effort in an olympic distance. It always seems like I have one thing that just doesn't go according to plan. A lot of it I know is mental because during the run, I kept telling myself that I can't ran faster when I know I'm capable of it. I can do in training, I just need to be able to transfer it to a race.

My final time was 2:37:01.

Now, that my season is over for the year, I have my sights set on my goal of doing my first half-iron next summer. I think that I'm ready to jump to the next level. I don't have any real desire to do an Ironman, I don't think my body could handle it, that is why I really admire those who take on that challenge. But for my I think my focus will continue to be on Olympic and the half-iron.

Well my final Triathlon of the season will be happening this weekend. I am doing the Mid-Summer Tri in Troutdale, Oregon. I feel that training has been going good. The only problem I've been having is a re-occuring issues with my Plantar Fasciitis. It had been a problem a few months ago, but it had gotten much better. But just a few weeks ago it reared its ugly head. I got some new shoes because running in my old shoes for to long is usually the cultpert. But it didn't work as quickly as it had before. Then I noticed that my left calf muscle was much tighter than my right, so I started doing more calf stretches and it seems to be working, along with ice. I probably won't be doing any running this week before my race. I will focus just on swimming and cycling. I have been working on some new positioning in the pool, by keeping my head lower, by looking to the bottom of the pool. I have been holding my head up more, and I found just by moving my head a bit lower my 100 yard splits are about 5-7 seconds faster.

My goal for this weekend is to have a faster bike split. I know that I can do a 1:05 - 1:15, and I will be looking to do a faster swim time also. I want to try and go out faster in the swim and push myself more. I am aiming for a time of 2:15 - 2:30, so we'll see what happens.
